Mettupalayam- Coimbatore train to ply on Sundays as well

Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav  takes action on MoS Dr L. Murugan request

Union Minister for Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnav has announced that as requested by the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Dr. L. Murugan, the frequency of the trains that run between Mettupalayam and Coimbatore will be increased to all days including Sundays and the Chennai Egmore – Tiruchendur Express will have stoppage at Papanasam Railway Station.

In a letter to the Railway Ministry, Union Minister of State Dr L. Murugan had mentioned that during his visit to Tamilnadu many passengers and travellers had approached him and requested for the service of Mettupalayam to Coimbatore train on Sundays too. He had also stated this will help hundreds of passengers travelling on this route and requested the Railway Ministry to take this into consideration.

In his reply, Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav has informed that the matter was discussed and approval has been given for increasing the frequency of trains between Mettupalayam to Coimbatore from 6 days a week to daily and stoppage of Chennai Egmore- Tiruchendur Express at Papanasam Railway Station.
